DESCRIPTION:O’Miami kicks off National Poetry Month with a pajama party like no other. \nStaged on a giant bed at the enchanting Miami Beach Botanical Garden\, the 2nd annual Poetry in Pajamas is a family-friendly event that welcomes children of all ages to recite poetry in their pajamas. \nPoetry in Pajamas was created by brothers Sam\, 9\, and Simon\, 6\, who started reciting poetry in their pajamas from the bottom bunk of their North Bay Village bunk beds. Their mom\, local artist Sara Kaplan\, shared her kids reciting poetry on social media and soon they began receiving poems from other kids in pajamas. Poetry in Pajamas believes in empowering kids’ voices and ideas through writing\, reading\, and understanding poetry. Kids may submit a poem to be published in the Poetry in Pajamas Coloring Book to poetryinpajamas@gmail.com. \nMiami’s Afrobeta will provides music and there will be snacks from Edible South Florida. This play is in Spanish. \nInspired by John Gay’s The Begger’s Opera and Ruben Blade’s iconic salsa song\, the musical was first performed by Teatro del 60 in Puerto Rico in the early 1980s before heading to New York\, where it made its way to Broadway\, garnered critical acclaim and boasted sold-out performances across Puerto Rico\, the Dominican Republic\, Venezuela\, Cuba\, Ecuador and many other Latin American and Caribbean countries. \nPrometeo is adding its own twist. DESCRIPTION:Photo by Elliott Erwitt Paris\, France. 1989. \nThe nonprofit Florida Photographic Foundation presents its first-ever MiamiPhotoFest Feb. 27 – March 3 at the historic Moore Building in the Miami Design District. \nThe fest features curated exhibits\, workshops\, artist talks\, lecture panels\, portfolio reviews and the 2019 MiamiPhotoFest International Emerging Photography Awards sponsored by Fujifilm.\, which will award more than $40\,000 in prizes. \nExhibits include more than 30 prints from iconic photographer Elliott Erwitt’s “Paris” series; French photographer Antoine d’Agata’s WHITE NOISE\, 2006-2016; Mathieu Bitton\, who accompanies Lenny Kravitz on his world tours\, will exhibit portraits of Kravitz from Bitton’s ASCENSION series; Pulitzer prize-winning Miami Herald photo journalist Carl Juste\, among many others. \nThe 2019 MiamiPhotoFest is free and open to the public. For more information\, visit www.miamiphotofest.org. \nThe MiamiPhotoFest itinerary includes:  \n\nAntoine d’Agata: “CODEX\, America 1986-2017”\, which will be Antoine d’Agata’s first solo U.S. exhibit\, presentation\, and book signing.\n\n\nRalph Gibson: Intimate talk and book signing event.\n\n\nBruce Gilden: Will be exhibiting for the first time his poignant series “Only God Can Judge Me” shot on the streets of Miami and Farm Boys and Farm Girls\, a powerful portraiture series on young farm kids.\n\n\nRoger Ballen: Brings his Theater of the Absurd exhibition to MiamiPhotoFest.\nAndy Summers: photographer\, and former guitarist for The Police\, will have Intimate talk\, “The Bones of Chuang Tzu” exhibition and book signing event.\n\n\nMaggie Steber: Leica Ambassador and National Geographic photographer widely recognized for her coverage of the Katie Stubblefield’s facial transplant\, Maggie will exhibit her powerful\, imaginative dream sequence\, “The Secret Garden of Lily LaPalma”.\n\n\nKerry Payne Stailey: Will exhibit her long-term project “More Beautiful Broken” a series that probes the complicated grief facing those left behind when somebody they love dies by suicide sponsored by Fujifilm.\n\n\nRenée Jacobs: “womenSEEwomen” Photos de Femmes organization is dedicated to giving a powerful voice to iconic representations of women and to continually promote positive depictions of women around the world.\n\n\nMaria Daniel Balcazar: MiamiPhotoFest is pleased to team up with Burn Books to present Maria Daniel Balcazar’s “Kilombo”\, an intimate and powerful documentary project that captures the Afro-Brazilian culture.\nFujiFilm Camera: Fujifilm Loan Program Get a real feel for what Fujifilm is all about\, pick one camera body and any two lenses for a trial period of three days.\n\n\nMichael Itkoff:  a conversation on publishing\, curating\, and portfolio editing by co-founder of Daylight books.\n\n\nCopyright Alliance: Copyright Alliance: CEO Keith Kupferschmid will host a session called Office Hours\, during which event attendees are invited to have their copyright-related questions answered at no cost.\nNightly Events: Projections and multimedia programs are scheduled for every night of MiamiPhotoFest by the most respected collectives and projects in the world of photography\, including Burn Magazine’s Emerging Photographer Fund; Women Photograph; African Artist Foundation; Photo Vogue Italy; World Press Photo 6×6 Talent Program; Aperture Foundation; Paris Photo; Head On Festival.\n\n  \n
