Seats available on a first come\, first served basis. \nThe Performance Series is presented by the Knight Foundation and produced by 19-time Grammy Award-winning producer Emilio Estefan in collaboration with the Miami Symphony Orchestra. DESCRIPTION:O’Miami kicks off National Poetry Month with a pajama party like no other. \nStaged on a giant bed at the enchanting Miami Beach Botanical Garden\, the 2nd annual Poetry in Pajamas is a family-friendly event that welcomes children of all ages to recite poetry in their pajamas. \nPoetry in Pajamas was created by brothers Sam\, 9\, and Simon\, 6\, who started reciting poetry in their pajamas from the bottom bunk of their North Bay Village bunk beds. Their mom\, local artist Sara Kaplan\, shared her kids reciting poetry on social media and soon they began receiving poems from other kids in pajamas. Poetry in Pajamas believes in empowering kids’ voices and ideas through writing\, reading\, and understanding poetry. Kids may submit a poem to be published in the Poetry in Pajamas Coloring Book to poetryinpajamas@gmail.com. \nMiami’s Afrobeta will provides music and there will be snacks from Edible South Florida. Also check out the Dreamcatcher installation under the banyan tree by artist Kandi Stirman. \nSuggested dress code: Pajamas and slippers. \nRSVP for free here.  \n

DESCRIPTION:Photo by Elliott Erwitt Paris\, France. 1989. \nThe nonprofit Florida Photographic Foundation presents its first-ever MiamiPhotoFest Feb. 27 – March 3 at the historic Moore Building in the Miami Design District. \nThe fest features curated exhibits\, workshops\, artist talks\, lecture panels\, portfolio reviews and the 2019 MiamiPhotoFest International Emerging Photography Awards sponsored by Fujifilm.\, which will award more than $40\,000 in prizes. \nExhibits include more than 30 prints from iconic photographer Elliott Erwitt’s “Paris” series; French photographer Antoine d’Agata’s WHITE NOISE\, 2006-2016; Mathieu Bitton\, who accompanies Lenny Kravitz on his world tours\, will exhibit portraits of Kravitz from Bitton’s ASCENSION series; Pulitzer prize-winning Miami Herald photo journalist Carl Juste\, among many others. \nThe 2019 MiamiPhotoFest is free and open to the public.
